As a Managing Partner with Plain Sight Capital, Sylvester works to identify, invest in, and support high-potential, underrepresented tech founders to successfully scale their startups. Based in Philadelphia, Plain Sight Capital focuses on pre-seed to seed stage B2B SaaS companies that use fully product-led or hybrid product-led growth strategies that will change how industries, businesses, and communities work.

Sylvester Mobley is the Co-Founder and Managing Partner at the early-stage venture capital firm Plain Sight Capital. He is also the founder and CEO of the tech and innovation education organization, Coded by Kids (CBK). As the CEO of CBK, Sylvester has led the organization's growth, from serving fewer than 15 students in one Philadelphia recreation center to working with hundreds of students each week in more than 20 locations across the region. Through CBK, Sylvester works to prepare underrepresented young people to succeed at the highest levels of the tech and startup spaces.
Sylvester is a graduate of Temple University’s Fox School of Business and completed the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton Venture Capital Executive Education Program. Sylvester is also a veteran of the war in Iraq, serving in three branches of the United States military (Marines, Air Force, and Army) for over 12 years. Sylvester’s awards and honors include the 2018 Philadelphia Award, the University City Science Center Nucleus Cultivator Award, the Please Touch Museum Portia and Otto Sperr Legacy Award, the Philadelphia 76ers Game Changer Award, the Philadelphia Business Journal Veterans of Influence Award, the Philadelphia Business Journal Tech Disruptor Award, the KYW Game Changer Award, the Philadelphia Academies Stand and Deliver Award, and a Philadelphia City Council resolution. Currently, Sylvester serves on the City of Philadelphia Pathways to Reform, Transformation & Reconciliation Steering Committee, the Mayor of Philadelphia’s Economic Opportunity Cabinet, and as the co-chair of the Digital Literacy Alliance Advocacy, Policy, and Long-Term Funding.
John Sider created "Capital Call", the Ben Franklin quarterly session he moderates that links entrepreneurs in the BF CNP ecosystem to active, early-stage investors in the region. John is an accomplished professional in private, public, and non-profit sectors. With a wide-ranging experience in debt and equity financing as well as senior-level management appointments. John is an expert in program development and execution for economic development activities focused on innovation, entrepreneurship, and redevelopment. He is highly skilled in communications, financial analysis and business development and a frequent presenter/moderator on early-stage capital formation issues at venues that have included: International Commercialization Forum, US Treasury, National Academy of Sciences, National Governors Association, State Science and Technology Institute and more.
